What I do: I don’t just place puppies. I match each puppy’s temperament with the right family. I raise every litter in my home, in Rapid City, with intentional handling from day one.

Our Adoption Process
Simple – Transparent – Human
Step 1: Browse Our Available Puppies
View each puppy’s personality profile, health records, and photos. I update every litter weekly.
Step 2: Submit Your Adoption Application
A short form. I ask about your lifestyle, experience with large breeds, and home environment. This isn’t a test – it’s how I ensure the match works.
Step 3: Virtual Meet & Greet
We’ll schedule a video call. You’ll see the puppy in my home. You’ll meet the parents. You’ll ask questions. You’ll get honest answers.
Step 4: Adoption Finalization
Complete the adoption agreement. I coordinate safe transport or local pickup. Your new family member arrives with a starter kit, health records, and my ongoing support.
What Makes an Ethically Bred Akita?
Health isn’t luck – it’s genetics.
American Akitas are prone to hip dysplasia, autoimmune disorders, and certain eye conditions. I test for these before breeding. Every breeding dog in my program has:

Hip and elbow evaluations (OFA or PennHIP)

DNA screening for degenerative myelopathy and other known markers

Annual cardiac and ophthalmologist exams
Temperament isn’t accidental – it’s nurtured.
Akitas need early socialization. I start handling puppies from day one. I expose them to different sounds, surfaces, and gentle handling. By the time a puppy leaves my home, it’s already accustomed to human touch and basic cues.
I don’t cut corners. I’ve walked away from breeding lines that couldn’t provide documentation. That’s the standard I hold.
OUR STORY
I got my first Akita in 2008. I thought I knew what I was doing. I didn’t.
That dog humbled me. She was stubborn, aloof, and challenged every training method I thought I understood. But she also taught me more about canine psychology than any book ever could.
